Take a day, weekend, or longer to escape from reality and explore the outdoors. Wisconsin holds home to 6,000 - 10,000 miles of ATV/UTV friendly trails. A mix of forests, hills and lakes will give you the feeling of adventure you crave.

Whether you're a new rider or a lifelong off-roader, here are 5 featured trails to add to your favorites list.

1. CHIPPEWA COUNTY ATV TRAIL

The perfect combination. Suitable for beginners and advanced riders with 23 miles of beautiful forestry and challenging terrain, and 20 miles of flat gravel routes. Sounds like a perfect day ride! To experience added views of nearby lakes, start the route on the East side near HWY CC and work your way North-West to encounter gorgeous views of: Sand Lake, Long Lake, Henneman Lake, Island Lake, McCann Lake and more! Not only do you get to encounter beautiful views of nature, you also have the chance to spot remarkable wildlife, such as Bald Eagles in their natural habitat.

      2.  WASHBURN COUNTY ATV SCENIC TOUR

 

Discover more than 100 miles of trails and a mix of the following:

  • Growth Forests
  • National Scenic Riverways
  • Historic Fires
  • Biological Reserves

3. BARRON COUNTY CATTAIL TRAIL

Explore the Almena and Amery communities on the Cattail trail from the view of your ATV/UTV. Notice a variety of different land and wildlife habitats for as long as 22 miles.

Want to go on longer? No problem! You can hop on the Cattail extension and continue east to Cameron or head towards Solon Springs for a total of almost 90 miles! A perfect day trip or weekend getaway.

4. BATTLEAXE TRAIL

Home of Wisconsin's National Treasures - Bayfield County is the perfect place to hop on your ride and just go! 180 mile stretch of trails and forest roads, with stopping points along the way! Take two days and stay at one of the recreation sites, grab dinner, purchase some drinks and hit the road the following day!

5. WILD RIVERS STATE TRAIL

Take a joy ride through the Northwest part of Wisconsin and enjoy the natural resources and wildlife. 104 miles available to ride, including trails though the Namakagon River! This one is also in Washburn and Barron County, but travels outside to Douglas County as well.

Well, there you have it! 5 new trails to try before winter hits. Come winter, most of these are snowmobile accessible too! Take a day off, you deserve it.
